Creative Genius
« on: July 24, 2013, 11:21:19 AM »
Just found this surprising and thought I would share it.

I was just browsing LinkedIn and was totally surprised at the number of people who place "Creative Genius" in their profile, directly after their name.

Are these people totally obnoxious ????

It is different when someone else refers to you as a Genius in a write-up, though is it correct to consider yourself one and advertise it ????

Do these people have any credibility ???  :-\

They're probably the ones that get hired.   And I bet their employers are unhappy with them later.

I worked with one guy at an agency who proclaimed himself as a creative genius and what that really meant was that he didn't play well with others.  He felt the need to stick his fingers in every detail of a project even though they didn't belong there because, of course, he could do your job better than you could.  He eventually got promoted to a partner and the company went belly up about a week later.  He probably stuck his fingers into the financials.

End of Rant.

Thanks Michael,

I usually find that the guys with the biggest attitudes and the biggest mouths are those that get promoted and not the ones who sit quietly and get the job done well.

Just surprised at the blatant arrogance of some people as I have always been a quiet achiever.

I don't use Linkedin, but I do have an account. I don't understand the "endorsement" crap and I hate when I get emails saying "so and so has endorsed you".  :(

Hey Pia,

You basically certify that he person has that specific talent.

Bit of a joke though, as I have people who don't really even know me, endorse my skills.
