Favorite of the New Millennium?
« on: May 09, 2013, 12:05:36 PM »
Maybe it's time to have a favorite list, for now... It doesn't have to be in order, but what are your top 10 favorite movies of the new millennium thus far?

My list was originally comprised of 37 movies. With relative ease, I was able to drop it to 13. It became a bit tougher from there. These are ordered by release date, not by favorite.

Memento (which I still consider the best screenplay of the millennium).
Dawn of the Dead.
Sin City.
The Prestige.
Zodiac.
Grindhouse.
American Gangster.
There Will Be Blood.
The Wrestler.
The Social Network.

Honorable Mentions:

United 93.
Watchmen.
Toy Story 3.

I'm not up to date with films from this new millennium. I assume you mean from 2000 onwards. Truth is, I love classic films, so I don't spend a lot of time watching the latest films. I hardly ever go to the cinema and I hardly ever rent DVDs. Give me a Marvel or a DC film and I'll be there, though.

Here's my pitifully short list:

-Amazing Grace
- Walk the Line
- The Dark Knight Rises
- The Hobbit
- Tintin

That's all I can think of at the moment. Will add more when I can think of more.

It's not a long list, but there so many recent movies that I want to see, but haven't got around to watching yet. "Life of Pi" is one of them, which I'm sure I'd love.

Those that know me, know I like weird films the best so here's my list (in no particular order)

Enter the Void
Memento
Children of Men
Drive
Moon
Oldboy
Donnie Darko
Let the Right One In

There's more (There's always more) but that's enough for now.

That's a bit tough for me. A few off hand that I can think of are:

Zodiac
Sin City
The Social Network
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Traffic
United 93
No Country For Old Men
The Royal Tenenbaums

I'm sure I am forgetting some, but those are a few of mine.

Thought of another one last night, after watching "I am Sam" last night. One of the few movies that can actually get to me emotionally.

Whenever I think of I Am Sam, I immediately see visions of a black-faced RDJ from Tropic Thunder explaining how to win an Academy Award for acting. :)
