Thanks for another great show Babz.

I like your take on Drive and the director's deliberate choice to slow everything down. I do wonder how one achieves that on the page, especially when it's drummed in to my aspiring writers' mind to keep the pages turning.

One thing that really frustrated me about Drive was the main character's obvious lack of dialogue. On screen it added weight to his actions, but I still find it hard to understand how a character like that could ever be judged as a worthy protagonist with a compelling character arc (on the page at least) when most of his actions are drive, kill and occasionally show kindness to his neighbour.

Just my thoughts on it, and I hope you've gotten over your shniffles  :P

Is this the script to the movie you were talking about? http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Drive.html

Production value on this installment was really good by the way.  8)

Babz, I totally agree with your sentiments on profanity.
Unless there is a specific purpose, like your character swears for a reason that's in contrast to other characters, then swearing for the sake of it just seems superfluous.
When I read over my own dialogue and cut the swear words out I don't miss them at all, in fact, I'm just pushed harder to find the right words.
I think the same way about smoking on screen. What does it really add to a scene? Unless it's directly used in a specific context for a specific, I would have to say it's cliche and adds nothing.
Peace out, woobot

Hello Babz,
This is my first time listening to your podcast (I'm new here), and I must say, I'm very happy to have found this.
I've listened and definitely learnt up on the topics you mentioned.
Will definitely catch up with your previous podcasts!
I hope I can send you a fitting script your way some day.

Thank you!  :)
